In the night around 7.30pm there is a sound and light show conducted by tourism department in the garden of western group of temples.In the garden there are chairs for the audience. Large speakers boom out the sound effects and narration of the story of Khajuraho and what was likely happening during those times. The show lasts for 50 mins in the dark of the evening with the lighting effects flashing in and out from the various temples to create a special kind of ambiance.
The annual Khajuraho Dance Festival fills the amazing temples of Khajuraho with India's finest classical dancers. Styles of dance presented include Kathak, Bharat Natyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi and Manipuri.
The western group of temples acts as the exquisite backdrop for the Khajuraho Dance Festival's performers - usually the Chitragupta Temple dedicated to Surya (the Sun God) and the Vishwanatha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
